Building on élan’s goal setting in “How Will You Make 2019 Your Best Year Yet,” another action step you can take in addition to reading your goals and To Do List daily, is to make visual reminders for yourself.
One of my favorite ways is to create a digital vision board. A vision board is a “collage of images and words representing a person’s wishes or goals, intended to serve as inspiration or motivation.” But instead of the traditional way of cutting and pasting magazine clippings to a poster board, a digital vision board is made online or with an app. It can then be stored and displayed on your mobile phone, laptop or any other digital device.
Tonight, élan and I were teaching our daughters, Lyric (5 yrs) and London (3 yrs), the concept of goals and asked them what they wanted in life. What started with going to school and learning gymnastics quickly turned into LOL Surprise Dolls and going to Disneyland. Needless to say, I had fun creating the digital vision board for the family that you see above. The girls loved seeing the finished product they helped create and are excited to make their own.
Here’s how you can create your own digital vision board in 4 steps.
STEP 1: SET GOALS
Write down your short and long-term goals. Be specific as possible. Remember, the Universe and your brain needs to know what you want in life. Your goals can be in the following areas: health, finance, relationships, travel, career, personal growth, spirituality, talents, hobbies, self-care, home, lifestyle and more. And don’t be shy about listing down material possessions as well. (Review goal setting here.)
STEP 2: FIND PICTURES
Search for images online that represent your goals and how you want to feel. Save them to your phone or laptop in a vision board album. I used Google Images and my personal family photos. It would be even better if you could find the exact place you want to visit, exact house you want to buy, exact toy you want to play with…You get the picture, literally! Lyric and London had fun picking out their images.
STEP 3: CREATE AND SAVE
Create your digital vision board online or with an app for free. There are many options to choose from. The phone apps I used were PhotoGrid to make the collage of pictures, and Photofy to add cute artwork and text. Save your digital vision board. Set it as the wallpaper on your smartphone. Make it the screensaver on your desktop.
STEP 4: SEE AND VISUALIZE
This is the most important step of all. Because your digital vision board will either be on your phone or laptop, it is inevitable that you will see it all the time. Looking at your vision board will inspire you and keep you focused on accomplishing your goals. It serves as a constant reminder to visualize your ideal life happening now. If we can see it, we can take action and achieve it.
What do you think? Will you a create a digital vision board if you don’t already have one? I hope the answer is yes. Or if you’re in the Las Vegas area, what do you think about attending a vision board party?
Best,
Marlene
A vision board party sounds like a fantastic idea! Sharing these ideas with the universe in the form of a group gathering is another way to take that step, even if it is a baby step, to work towards it. In our home we involve the kids in goal setting too! Not only does it spark continued ambition and aspiration, it’s a way to bring the family together in a fun way! Thank you for sharing elan and Marlene!
Hi Maria, thanks for commenting & I’m happy to see it went under the correct post. 🙂 The girls already had fun just picking out pictures online, so I know they will have even more fun cutting out pictures & gluing it to a poster board. I just have to have to find some toy ads. 😀 Then we can all share our finished vision boards at the end of the party! If you’re up to it, let’s plan one in March.
